The China FAW Group Corporation, based in Changchun Province, is China's oldest and largest vehicle manufacturer and over the last five decades has evolved into one of the world's leading vehicle producers. FAW has joint venture operations with many of the world's leading vehicle manufacturers including Volkswagen, Toyota and Mazda.
FAW's core vision is 'total customer satisfaction' and the company leaves no stone unturned to ensure that it has the best cutting-edge technologies, production methods and management systems to fulfill this vision. Since inception, FAW has produced 16 million vehicles and has consistently been a Fortune 500 company.
In South Africa for 20 years already, FAW SA has established itself as a leader in the local commercial truck market and is planning for significant expansion. It is a company for the times and the brand has become a force to be reckoned with, offering a product range that is tough, reliable and affordable.
The new state-of-the-art FAW truck and passenger car plant is located at Coega Industrial Development Zone in the Eastern Cape. FAW's decision to build the plant in South Africa is significant as it is, to date, one of the most important investments made by a Chinese entity in South Africa. The total investment of approximately $60 million has been financed by FAW China and the China–Africa Development Fund (CAD-Fund).
Expected to eventually produce5 000 trucks annually, the first truck rolled off the assembly line in July 2014. FAW prides itself on giving optimum value for money and this, combined with being a world class product, has made it one of this country's champions in the truck industry.
